Nerdfest 2026

Nerdfest is back for its 3rd year in 2026!

Following the success of our 2024 and 2025 events, the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences at the University of Waikato is excited to bring you our third annual Nerdfest event — a dynamic technology showcase like no other.

Get hands-on with fun, interactive activities inspired by our cutting-edge research and innovative projects. From AI and robots to cyber security, programming, gaming, LEGO, and more — there's something for everyone. And keep your eyes open… there might be a few surprises along the way!

All ages welcome — whether you're a tech newbie, a curious kid, a family looking for a fun day out, or a seasoned ‘techspert’, Nerdfest has something for you.

-Explore the Interactive Monster Mashup

-Tour student-built smart homes that think for themselves
