A Diverse Culture
In New Zealand, we celebrate our indigenous Māori people and their culture and traditions are woven into everyday life. Spot Te Reo Māori translations on signage around the country. Watch a spine-tingling haka (traditional war dance) on your travels. Waikato proudly has the highest percentage of Māori domestic students compared to the other New Zealand universities.

Centrally Located
The University of Waikato has two campuses in New Zealand. Study Abroad & Exchange students can study at either of our New Zealand campuses.
Hamilton is well positioned near the centre of the North Island. It is close to New Zealand's biggest city, Auckland, as well as beaches, forests, and mountains. The surfing town of Raglan is only 45 minute drive away.
Tauranga is on the coast with golden sand beaches at your doorstep. You will be spoilt with rock pools, swimming, and surfing spots. You're also close to Rotorua, a cultural hot spot and geothermal city.
