Access Points

Central Library

  • Level 2 from Hillcrest Road
  • Level 1 near A Block
  • Level 0 near L Block

There is a lift from Level 0 that stops at Level 1 (Campus Books) and Level 2 (main entrance to the Student Centre)

Teaching Resources Library

To access the Teaching Resources Library, park in the disability access car parks off Gate 4 in front of Te Huataki Waiora Faculty of Health, Sport and Human Performance. Follow the covered path to the left of the carpark and enter Level 1 of TL Block. The lift is located at the end of the TL Level 1 corridor. Take the lift to Level 3, the Teaching Resources Library is located at the opposite end of the Level 3 corridor through the double doors.



You may place a hold on items which show as available in the catalogue and you will be notified when the items are available for you. If you are unable to do this you can email a list of items you require to or hand the list to the staff on the Level 2 Service Desk. Please include title, author and call number of the items you require.

Copying, Printing & Scanning

Give a list of your requirements, together with a contact phone number, to staff at the Level 2 Service Desk. When the material is ready, we will contact you and advise of the charges. If you have any special requirements e.g. enlarged copies, please let us know. Please note that we are bound by Copyright legislation.


Contact staff at the Level 2 Assignment and Research Help Desk if you require special assistance in searching databases.


Contact the Information Services Team regarding tutorials. We can arrange some time together, or refer you to our Academic Liaison Librarians if appropriate.

Furniture and Equipment

There is a designated place for use in the Level 3 computer area (East Wing) and disability toilets on each floor in the east wing.


A kneeler chair is available for use. Ask at the Level 2 Enquiries Desk.


The pod at the south end of the computer area on Level 2 (East Wing) has adjustable workstations that are reserved for the use of students who wish to use the kneeler or gas chairs. In the designated place in the Level 3 computer area there is a magnifier and flat bed scanner.


If access to the catalogue computers is problematic, please ask for assistance at the Assignment and Research Help Desks on Level 2 and Level 4. Please note that the catalogue is accessible from any workstation via the Library website.
