The University of Waikato hosted about a dozen of New Zealand’s representatives in overseas countries on Thursday when it hosted a lunch for the Heads of Mission.
The meeting was a good opportunity for the University's senior leadership team to outline the newly-developed University strategy and to discuss with the Heads of Mission where they see opportunities for the University of Waikato in their regions.
Among those attending the lunch were High Commissioner Richard Mann (South Africa), High Commissioner Bernadette Cavanagh (Singapore), High Commissioner Tony Fautua (Papua New Guinea), Ambassador Hamish Cooper (Russia), Ambassador Rod Harris (Germany), Ambassador Eamon O’Shaughnessy (Iran), High Commissioner Marion Crawshaw (Solomon Islands), High Commissioner Dr Sir Lockwood Smith (United Kingdom), Ambassador Amanda Ellis (United Nations office in Geneva), High Commissioner Ross Ardern (Niue) and Jonathan Austin, Divisional Manager Middle East/Africa Division. They were joined by representatives from NZTE in Hamilton and MFAT.
The working lunch was also an opportunity to update the Heads of Mission on some of the University's projects, work and linkages in their regions.
