Building Networks: Management students connecting with Human Resource professionals from a range of organisations at SKYCITY Hamilton.

A networking event in the form of 'speed dating' saw management students connect with human resource professionals from a range of organisations at SKYCITY Hamilton recently.

'Leaders for the Future: A Networking Event'

The event, which attracted over 160 attendees, was named 'Leaders for the Future: A Networking Event' and was organised by University of Waikato student group, the Human Resources Student Association (HRSA), with support from the Human Resources Institute of New Zealand (HRINZ).

Following a format similar to speed dating, students were given the opportunity to showcase their skills and experience to human resource management professionals from organisations such as, Gallagher, Fonterra, Waikato District Health Board, Hamilton City Council, Waikato District Council, Enlighten Designs, The University of Waikato, Cooper Aitken, Wintec and Longveld. The organisations in turn were able to promote their graduate opportunities, as well as scout out potential employees.

"There was an extremely broad range of Waikato Management School Majors present, and there were also some very encouraging signs from the organisations represented in terms of internship and graduate opportunities," says HRSA President, Liam Ewing.

"We're thrilled with the success of the event, and reports from students have been very positive about the selection of organisations on offer. I wish to thank everyone who participated in the event, particularly the broad range of delegates from all over New Zealand who made the journey to Hamilton."
