University of Waikato’s rankings rise in Asia-Pacific

28 June 2018

Vice-Chancellor Professor Neil Quigley.

Up from #78, this year we are one of only two New Zealand universities to achieve an increased ranking.

The Asia-Pacific University Ranking 2018 analysed universities across 38 nations in East Asia, Southeast Asia and Oceania, covering more than 250 universities. It evaluated research-intensive institutions across all their core missions: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.

This is the latest measure to acknowledge Waikato’s strong growth and leadership in education and research. We are currently ranked in the 351-400 band in the overall THE rankings, placing us third equal in New Zealand.

The QS World University Rankings 2019 placed us #274; the University has jumped 127 places in this measure in just five years. Our climb up the QS Rankings acknowledges world-class achievements in areas that directly impact our students and our world.
