My Experience
As a Maori language facilitator in English medium schools, I have been learning te reo Māori as a second language for several years now and understand the challenges many teachers face when teaching and learning the language.
A hands-on, practical approach summarises my attitude, coming into classrooms to model lessons for staff, observe teachers and provide both oral and written feedback. With a wealth of practical tips and approaches, I can make your te reo Maori programme fun, easy to teach and relevant for our 21st century learners.
Working with schools, I have helped develop a school wide sequential plan for te reo me oona tikanga Māori and guided schools in selecting assessment tools. I can help staff unpack curriculum documents, in particular Te Aho Arataki Marau for te reo Māori.
Inclusive Education is a passion of mine and I work hard to ensure students and whaanau feel part of a learning community. Working as an ORS (Ongoing Resourcing Scheme) teacher, I have supported a diverse range of students as they transition either full time or on a part-time basis into a classroom.
