My Experience

With more than 9 years’ experience as a facilitator of professional learning, I am currently a Regional Coordinator and Facilitator of PB4L Restorative Practice for the Institute of Professional Learning: Te Whai Toi Tangata. A Kaitakawaenga in Assessment (NCEA) for Te Toi Tupu, I am an experienced facilitator in both English and Māori medium kura. Supporting school principals and lead teams to implement and embed restorative practices in their school communities is my role, as well as encouraging regional cluster training.

With senior leadership and management experience, and having previously worked as a project leader for Assessment, NCEA and Career Pathways, I bring a wealth of knowledge, experience and skills to the Secondary sector.  Over the past five years, I have also been a Ministry of Education contracted Panel Writer and Materials Developer for Hauora NCEA Levels 1 – 3 for Te Marautanga o Aotearoa. Modelling and working in culturally responsive and mana enhancing ways, I work collaboratively with schools, clusters and communities to provide better outcomes for student achievement and success for all.

More recently, I have been a member of the Te Toi Ora Māori and Special Education Advisory groups for Te Toi Tupu. Improving educational outcomes for Māori students, Pasifika students and students with special education needs is a particular focus of my work. Being a leader of learning, sharing effective teaching practices that make a difference and contributing to young people having more possibilities and choices in their lives, continues to inspire the work I do in the education space.
