About this opportunity

The project will focus on New Zealand wide prospecting of potential aquifer systems for dissolved-phase carbon dioxide removal using a risk-minimisation approach. We seek a student with a research Masters degree, preferably in geology, hydrogeology, geophysics, engineering, or a closely related field for a 3-year fully funded PhD project.

This vacancy has additional eligibility criteria:

The ideal candidate would have at least one of the following:

  1. Research experience involving basin analysis or reservoir characterisation.
  2. Experience with ArcGIS, Petrel E&P, or Kingdom (preferably gained through industry experience or internships).
  3. Understanding of siliciclastic sedimentology and stratigraphy, fluid flow in the subsurface, and/or faults and fractures.
  4. Demonstrated English language skills (if English is not your first language, TOEFL or IELTS scores should be submitted with your application if available)

Upon approval from the selection committee, the successful applicant will be guided through the Doctor of Philosophy enrolment process. 

 

Final acceptance is subject to the approval of University of Waikato School of Graduate Research.
