Michael Anthony C. Dizon has held academic positions at universities and research institutes in the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the Philippines. He has also been engaged in legal practice having been an associate attorney at a Philippine law firm, a corporate lawyer for a privately held investment company, and a professional support lawyer with a global law firm.

Michael has conducted and published research on law and technology topics such as encryption, hacking, information security, cybercrime, intellectual property, and technology regulation.
His current research interests are cybersecurity and cybercrime laws and the norms and values of law and technology. More broadly, his research revolves around normative pluralism and the information society and involves the socio-legal study of technology, creativity and innovation.
