Student-Athlete Academic Support
The University of Waikato supports student-athletes who need help balancing study and sporting commitments.
Having trouble maintaining this balance?

Performance Enhancement Support

Celebrating Athlete Success
The University of Waikato celebrates the success of athletes through the annual Wallace Corporation University of Waikato Blues Awards. The ceremony takes place in October each year and is a major event on the University social calendar.
The University of Waikato offers a number of sports-related scholarships, including the Sir Edmund Hillary Scholarship and the University of Waikato Professional Athletes Dual-Career Scholarship.

Coach Developer - Contract for Services
The Sport and Wellbeing team have a focus on good outcomes for University of Waikato (UoW) Sport clubs on campus.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, results driven, individual to support our University of Waikato Sport Clubs; to enhance the quality of coaching and improve coach capability encouraging engagement and participation of students and alumni and support excellence in sporting performance. Sport Clubs that this role will support are University of Waikato Rugby, Netball, Hockey, Basketball plus Waikato Unicol AFC and Hamilton Star University of Waikato Cricket Club.
The Coach Developer will be responsible for:
Leading advancement of a coach developer strategy.
Providing leadership to UoW sport clubs to enable high quality coach development and pathways in form of: individual development plans, coach recruitment, retention and recognition.
Sharing current best practice in regard to coaching and coach development across the UoW sport clubs
Developing and delivering cutting edge information and resources supporting coaching
To be successful in this role you will have a relevant tertiary qualification; experience in a coaching or a coach development role with the ability to implement coach development frameworks. You will be skilled in conceptual thinking and have an ability to identify strategic opportunities. You will have strong facilitation, networking and influencing skills and the ability to build and maintain constructive and collegial relationships and a willingness to work collaboratively.
Payment to the contractor will be as agreed at an hourly wage rate in the range of $26 to $34 depending on qualifications, skills and experience. This is a part-time, fixed term contractor agreement.
