Fitness and Wellbeing


Gym memberships for University of Waikato staff and students in Tauranga are available through our partner gym providers – The Gym and Toi Ohomai Aquatic and Fitness Centre.

The Gym

Located at 107 First Avenue, The Gym, is the ultimate fitness destination with member tools to track progress, group fitness based on the Les Mills training system, 24 hour access and onsite free parking.  4 month minimum term agreement for student membership is $14.95 per week and for staff is $18.95 per week (Identification is required). These rates are both special discounted rates, the standard rate is $22.95 per week.

Toi Ohomai Aquatic and Fitness Centre

Located at Windermere campus, the Aquatic & Fitness Centre facilities include a full gym, thermally heated 25 meter swimming pool and fitness room for regular fitness classes. Discounted monthly or annual membership includes fitness assessments, individually designed programmes and fitness classes.

Yoga Break - free weekly lunchtime yoga:

Free weekly lunchtime yoga, all levels of experience are welcome. Yoga mats and changing facilities are available. Turn up and enjoy!
When: Tuesdays 1.05 to 1.55pm, starting 17 March (during semesters only).

A Semester dates: 17, 24, 31 March, 7, 28 April, 5, 12, 19, 26 May, 2 June

B Semester dates:  28, July, 4, 11, 18 August, 8, 22, 29 September, 6 October

Where: Yoga Break is provided by yoga instructor Tania Hanna at Studio 162, 162 Durham Street (just across the road
from Tauranga CBD campus and down the ramp alongside Folk Cafe).
Tania has been practicing yoga for the last 25 years and within that time traveled to the U.K and attended various classes and workshops. Tauranga also teaches at the Tauranga Yoga Centre.

Wellbeing Hub

The Wellbeing Hub, G03, is a space for you to relax and recharge on Wednesdays between 1 and 2pm – play board games, have a snack (bars and fruit provided) or even have a nap. Just drop in and chill out.
