Global Internships
Build valuable job skills and boost your employability with a global internship.
What is a Global Internship?
Global internships combine professional learning with cultural immersion, helping you to build global awareness, expand your networks, and develop the adaptability needed to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.
Internships range from 1-3 months and have rolling start dates, so you can start anytime. For most students, the best time is over C Trimester.
Why Intern Abroad?
With a global internship, you'll build valuable job skills, such as language proficiency, cultural training, adaptability, and communication. Whatever setting you find yourself in after graduation, you'll be grateful for the variety of technical and human skills you gained while interning abroad.
Our partners CRCC Asia and Intern Group have internship opportunities in a wide variety of sectors and all internships are in English. The programmes range from 1-3 months and are located in cities such as Tokyo, Shanghai, London, Barcelona, New York and more.
Cost
There is a cost for these internships; however, Waikato students receive a partnership discount and are considered for the Global Experiences Travel Award, and students receiving credit for their internship may be able to use StudyLink towards the cost.
When you do an internship, instead of paying tuition fees, you pay a programme fee directly to the internship provider. This fee will vary depending on location, programme type and programme length. To help give you an indication of how much an internship may cost, check out the price overviews for our internship providers:
Credit
While our global internships are currently non-credit-bearing, students are encouraged to speak to their division directly if they want to arrange credit.
