Explore sport in Tauranga! Join drop-in games, social leagues, tournaments, or student clubs. Free gear, parking, and fun at Haumaru Sport and Recreation Centre.

Drop in Sport

Our drop-in sport sessions are open to any students and staff who want to come and play in the Campus Clubhouse. During trimester study periods only.

Basketball - Monday 4-6pm

Pickleball and corn-hole - Wednesday 12-2pm (compete for the Annual Corn-hole Championship Trophy)

Badminton and table tennis - Friday 2-4pm

Plus, Students can play free sport at Haumaru Sport and Recreation Centre, 483 Cameron Road, ph 07 557 6319 for availability. Student ID is required. Equipment provided.

Social Sport

Enter a student team into social netball, volleyball or basketball. Teams receive a subsidised entry fee rate.

Contact uowsport@waikato.ac.nz if you have a team that you would like to enter or if you want to join a team.

University Tournaments (UTSNZ)

Represent the University of Waikato and compete against other New Zealand Universities and Tertiary Institutions in the UTSNZ National Tertiary Sport Championships (refer to the full calendar of events).

All teams will be selected at trials. We are looking for the best athletes to represent the University of Waikato. Team training is held in Hamilton, so we will discuss the logistics of your inclusion if based in Tauranga and help to try and make it work.
