Education introductions

Theme: Critically evaluate literature for children

Critically evaluate four books and two other library resources for primary school children, using your own criteria developed from your readings. (1,500 words)
About this excerpt:

When you're expected to come up with ideas yourself:
What is interesting about this task is that the students have been required to devise the criteria (as per the instructions above) for themselves.
You need to be ready for this (especially as you get higher up the academic stairs). Sometimes, students have to make their own essay task, and then structure a response to it. If that is the case, remember that the principles of good essay structure are the same as they are if you have been given a question to answer.
What to do:
  • First, use the buttons on the right to guide you through the lesson. Read the excerpt and look at the notes provided.
  • Complete the short activity.
  • Finally, feel welcome to contact Student Learning either personally, or via the Moodle writing forum to discuss your writing (University of Waikato students only).
