Activate Waikato Account

Two steps to finalise your Waikato Account and get access to all the key services and systems you need for your learning.

Step 1: Set a password

To set a password for your Waikato Account

  • Go to our password reset tool
  • Enter your Waikato Account username
    (provided in the email)
  • Follow the online instructions

Your password must be a minimum of 8 characters long. It must contain upper and lower case letters, numbers, and special characters (eg @!#^*$). It should not be something that could easily be guessed, such as your name, username or birthday. 

The University will NEVER ask you for your password.

Step 2: Set Up Multi Factor Authentication (MFA)

For security purposes, access to services, software and tools (including University-provided Microsoft 365 services) requires authentication using the Microsoft Authenticator app on your chosen device.
