Application and enrolment dates

All the dates you will need to know when applying to study at the University of Waikato.

Different application and enrolment dates apply to some programmes. Scroll down for research/thesis programmes, Centre of Corporate Executive Education programmes (MBA, MBM, and PGDipManagement), and Foundation and English Language programmes.

Domestic and returning international students

Semester T 2018 (Summer School, Mon 5 Nov – Fri 14 Dec)

  • Applications due: Tuesday 23 October, 2018
  • Completion of enrolment into papers: Friday 2 November, 2018

Semester A 2019 (Mon 25 Feb - Fri 21 June)

  • Completion of enrolment into papers: Friday 22 February, 2019

New international students

Semester T 2018 (Summer School, Mon 5 Nov – Fri 14 Dec)

  • Recommended date for application submission: Saturday 1 September, 2018*
  • Completion of enrolment into papers: Friday 2 November, 2018

Semester A 2019 (Mon 25 Feb - Fri 21 June)

  • Applications due: Monday 4 February, 2019
  • Completion of enrolment into papers: Friday 22 February, 2019

*This is a recommended date, in order to have sufficient time to secure flights, accommodation and a visa after submitting your application. If you submit your application later than this, we will still process it as quickly as possible.

Change of enrolment

Deadlines for changing the papers you're enrolled in, deleting papers (with a refund of the prescribed fees) or withdrawing from papers (without a refund) are found in the Change of Enrolment Regulations.

Credit and recognition of prior learning

Credit and Recognition of Prior Learning is offered to students that recognises previous tertiary study or non-formal education. Please ensure that your application is received by the University six weeks prior to the start of your first semester of study.

Applications received after the due date will be considered if there are spaces available.

Halls of Residence - 2019

Applications are open from 1 August 2018 for all students (domestic, international, and returning)

Domestic students

28/09/2018 All completed applications will be considered for a place.
02/10/2018 First round of offers will be sent out (email).
19/10/2018 Acceptances are due back.
29/10/2018 Second round of offers will go out (subject to availability).

International students

23/10/2018 All completed applications will be considered for a place.
26/10/2018 First round of offers will be sent out (email).
09/11/2018 Acceptances are due back.
19/10/2018 2nd round of offers will go out (subject to availability).

Returning students

15/10/2018 All completed applications will be considered for a place.
17/10/2018 First round of offers will be sent out (email).
29/10/2018 Acceptances are due back.
02/11/2018 2nd round of offers will go out (subject to availability).

All students: We will continue to make offers right through to February 2019, subject to availability.

International student homestay

Your Off Campus Accommodation Form must be received by the University at least three weeks before you arrive in New Zealand.
