This paper provides an introduction to the clinical specialty of mental health nursing for nurses new to mental health. The practice builds on foundations provided in preregistration programmes and explores core clinical concepts in mental health and the social context of mental health. Topics include clinical and recovery models, trauma informed care and evidence for practice.
