Certificate in STEM
Looking to increase your knowledge of STEM subjects? The Certificate in STEM is a 60 point undergraduate qualification that you can complete on either a full-time or part-time basis.
There is an increased demand for “science champions” in schools, which makes the Certificate in STEM particularly relevant to primary or secondary school teachers wanting to improve their knowledge in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects.
The Cert(STEM) is a 60 point undergraduate qualification, which means you have the flexibility to study on a part-time basis while in full-time employment.
Students can take four papers at 100 level or above in subjects offered by the Faculty of Computing & Mathematical Sciences and the Faculty of Science & Engineering. Students will need to meet any prerequisites for their paper choices. Subjects include:
- Computer Science
- Earth Sciences
- Ecology and Biodiversity
- Environmental Sciences
- Materials Science

A pedagogy paper with the Faculty of Education relevant to STEM subjects could be included, further supporting your ability to teach in your new subject.
