Certificate of Attainment in Academic English

The Certificate of Attainment in Academic English prepares you for entry into degree programmes at the University of Waikato. It teaches skills that are needed for successful university study.

The Certificate of Attainment in Academic English (CAAE) has five levels, from Intermediate to Advanced, and you will enter into the programme at a level dependent on your current English level.

Classes focus on the skills needed for successful study in higher education in New Zealand such as academic writing, listening, note-taking, reading and oral presentation skills.  Higher levels can provide direct entry to university programmes - please see below for further details.

Duration

Each level is taught in a 10 week block (23 hours of tuition per week) with one-week orientation.

Levels 6, 7, & 8 are also taught in an intensive 8 week block, with a half-week orientation.
