PhD - Māori Cultural Studies/Tikanga Māori as a subject

Māori Cultural Studies/Tikanga Māori is not available for new enrolments, and will be replaced by Māori and Indigenous Studies and Pacific and Indigenous Studies. Māori Cultural Studies/Tikanga Māori is still available as a subject for post graduate study. Please contact the Faculty for further information.

The degree of Doctor of Philosophy is awarded by the University for research carried out under the supervision of at least two staff members. A PhD can also be presented as a PhD with Publication or a PhD with a Creative Practice Component.

Tikanga Māori (Māori Cultural Studies) teaches you the skills required for a community leadership role in the enhancement of Māori development. In today's rapidly evolving world you will establish a basic, yet necessary understanding of the Māori worldview and its relation to other cultures and worlds.
