The Scholarship supports highly talented and dedicated students studying music with performance and musical composition components. Valued at $8,000, the scholarship aims to foster excellence and creativity in the next generation of musicians.

The Colin Davey Scholarship in Music was established in 2025 from a generous bequest by the late Colin Lester Davey. The funds are held and overseen by the Public Trust with the University receiving a share each year via the University of Waikato Foundation. The Scholarship will first be offered in 2026, with one Scholarship awarded annually, in perpetuity.
Eligibility
To be eligible applicants must be currently enrolled at the University of Waikato in a Bachelor of Music, Master of Music, or Doctor of Music programme that includes a performance and/or musical composition component. They must have completed at least 120 points of study at the University of Waikato and achieved a minimum B average across their most recent 120 points. Applicants should also demonstrate talent and dedication to music, a commitment to furthering the study of music, and show future promise and well-rounded personal qualities.
