Professional Practice in Social and Community Services Subject regulations
Professional Practice in Social and Community Services is a post-qualifying programme of study devised to prepare overseas qualified professionals for social, community and health practice in Aotearoa New Zealand. Learning in Professional Practice in Social and Community Services papers will primarily emphasise applying theoretical knowledge and research to real-world practice scenarios to enable interdisciplinary learning about culturally responsive professional practice in Aotearoa New Zealand.
These three new Postgraduate qualifications will be offered initially in Tauranga in 2026 B Trimester.

PGCertPSOCS and PGDipPSOCS To complete a Postgraduate Certificate of Professional Practice in Social and Community Services (PGCertPSOCS) students must complete 60 points at 500 level, including PSOCS501 and PSOCS502.
To complete a Postgraduate Diploma of Professional Practice in Social and Community Services (PGDipPSOCS) students must complete 120 points at 500 level, including PSOCS501, PSOCS502, PSOCS503 and 30 points from any 500-level coded paper.

MPSOCS To complete a Master of Professional Practice in Social and Community Services (MPSOCS) students must complete 180 points at 500 level.
Students enrolled in the MPSOCS must complete EDUCA557, PSOCS501, PSOCS502, PSOCS503 and 60 points from any 500-level coded paper.
