Primary Kākano Rua

Kākano Rua prepares students for teaching in English medium, bilingual (Māori and English) and Māori medium (total immersion) educational settings.

This learning pathway is open to those who have a strong commitment to revitalisation of Māori language and Māori Education. Kaupapa Māori underpins much of the content of the papers on offer. Some proficiency in te reo Māori is a requirement for entry to the programme.

An area of national demand, prepare yourself for teaching in English language, bilingual and total Māori immersion settings. Students follow the BTchg Primary programme and take papers that examine Te Marataunga o Aotearoa and the teaching and learning of te reo Māori. For entry, a level of proficiency to Level 2 NCEA Te Reo Māori is required – conditions apply.
