Social enterprises are businesses that serve the public interest - it's about more than just working for profit.
Social Enterprises are driven by entrepreneurs with a conscience, who develop services that deliver social, cultural, financial and environmental benefits to improve the well-being of communities and individuals. These organisations may be as big as Oxfam or Greenpeace, or as small as a community craft market.
In this subject, you’ll learn to develop a critical awareness of the contribution that social enterprise can make to enhance the well-being of people and planet.
You’ll also learn about the relationships between business, government and community, alongside topics traditionally associated with not-for-profit/non-governmental organisations and community sector.
Waikato is ranked in the world's top 150 universities for Accounting, Finance, and Business and Management Studies, by the prestigious QS Subject Rankings.
You'll study at our internationally recognised Waikato Management School, which has Triple Crown Accreditation from AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA, placing it in the top 1% of all business schools worldwide.
