Master of Professional Accounting (Accounting)
Waikato Management School
“Not every audit is easy; sometimes it’s very demanding work, but when the pieces of the puzzle all fit into place, it’s extremely rewarding,” says Judit Dervadelin, who works as an auditor in Hamilton.
Judit completed Waikato’s 14-month Master of Professional Accounting (MPAcct) with first class honours in 2016. She secured her first accounting role at BDO Waikato straight away, thanks to a glowing recommendation from one of her lecturers.
She now works full-time as an auditor, often visiting business clients to audit and verify their financial statements.
Originally from Hungary, Judit arrived in New Zealand with an economics degree and thought it would be helpful for her career to gain expertise in accounting as well. “If you understand accounting terms, you understand business,” she says.
“I wanted a shorter course, and Waikato was the only university in New Zealand offering an intensive 14-month masters in accounting. I feel I received an excellent education from the MPAcct degree; the knowledge I gained helps me in my job every day."
"The course was practical, up-to-date with what's happening in the industry, and my lecturers were very approachable if I had questions."
Judit also liked the fact that Waikato Management School has Triple Crown accreditation from AMBA, EQUIS and AACSB.
"Even if I returned home to Europe, my MPAcct degree would still be internationally recognised by employers."
