After completing her Bachelor of Communication Studies at Waikato, Libby landed her first job as communications and media executive at Destination Queenstown.
After several years in that role, she was appointed as the marketing and partnerships manager for Southern Discoveries in 2015, working on brand, offline campaigns, advertising, industry partnerships, content generation and PR activity.
After a two-year stint managing communications and media relations for NZSki, Ultimate Hikes and the Hermitage hotel in Aoraki/Mt Cook, Libby stepped into her next role as senior communications advisor for Queenstown Airport.
“I’ve been in Queenstown for eight years and I love it. The lifestyle is amazing and I love the pace and the outdoors way of living that’s embraced here,” she says.
Libby says she chose the BCS degree at Waikato because of its strong reputation, and liked having opportunities to learn outside the classroom.
"Having the chance to complete an internship as part of my degree helped me get where I am today."
Libby's advice to prospective students is to take every opportunity that comes your way, because you never know where it might lead you.
"I plan to keep doing what I love, working in public relations and media. A long-term aspiration of mine would be to lead a media team at a large-scale event."
