Mei/May 19: ✔️ Beyond Multichoice: Different Moodle Quiz Questions
Presenter: Stephanie Gibbons
This workshop looks at how to set up some alternative Moodle quiz questions such as matching, missing words, and multiple correct answers. Some of these question formats are more effective against GPT quiz extensions than traditional multichoice. There will also be an opportunity for participants to share examples of Moodle questions which have worked well.
Mei/May 10: 📚 Playing with Perusall
Looking for a way to help students engage more with their reading?
Perusall is a tool available through Moodle, which can help make reading an engaging, collaborative experience. This second workshop will focus on how to set up a Perusall component within your paper. This includes how to create a Perusall course in Moodle, how to upload materials, and how to create assessment tasks and link them to the Gradebook.

Mei/May 5: 🛡️ Protecting Moodle Quizzes from GPT

It is now possible to add a plug-in to your browser that engages with AI to answer Moodle multichoice questions. This workshop looks at what the plug-ins can and can't do, and offers practical suggestions for adjusting your multichoice questions to make it more difficult for them to provide answers.

Last year, evaluation response rates dipped to around 17%. By increasing your response rate, you can receive more meaningful information from your students while also gathering better evidence to demonstrate the quality of your teaching.

In this workshop, we will explore the concept of “metacognition”, which is often described as “thinking about thinking”. Mahuru/September 14: Pepeha for Pākehā
Pepeha is a uniquely Māori way to reference identity – incorporating both whakapapa (genealogy) and geographical location, it is a very specific locator of who you are. This workshop will explore some ways that Pākehā (non-Māori) can develop authentic ways of identifying themselves which enhance identity connections.

The answer is a resounding yes! Alternative (alt) text helps improve accessibility by providing an image description that is read aloud by screen readers and displayed when images fail to load. A desire to do less talking at students and instead teach in ways that make learning more active has been the focus of Vic Arcus, Ian MacDonald, Brett Langley, Jo Hicks, Linda Peters, Will Kelton, Renata Sawyer and Kirsten Petrie. In this session members of the project team will share the ‘low tech’ approaches they have been trialling for the last year as they have made a start with Active Learning. These are all simple pedagogical approaches that require minor tweaks to how we already go about delivering ‘lectures’. The team will also share some infographics that act as reminders to try new approaches in our teaching.
