Bronwyn Davies Lecture: Listening to children
Date / Time: 3 July 2015
Professor Bronwyn Davies, a professional fellow at the University of Melbourne and independent scholar, spoke to a large audience of education researchers and teachers at the Faculty of Education, University of Waikato on Friday 3 July.
Her lecture Listening to Children encouraged those working with children to go beyond listening, in order to fit what we hear and already know, to being open to listening for what is not yet said. Professor Davies described the importance of "Listening to thought", or emergent listening for only then can we discover what is not said but "tries hard to be heard".
