WMIER researchers on Learning Analytics

Drs Elaine Khoo and Mira Peter and from the Wilf Malcolm Institute of Educational Research (WMIER) were invited to be part of the panel discussion of the Learning Analytics Roadshow organised by Ako Aotearoa. They spoke about their TLRI funded research project on Learning Threshold Concepts in an undergraduate Engineering Flipped Classroom and highlighted the value of collecting student video viewing analytics as part of the data to inform and refine the design of the flipped classroom intervention.
A national series of seminars, workshops and panel discussion was organised by Ako Aotearoa to promote wider engagement with the field of Learning Analytics and how it can make a difference for learners and teachers. The seminars outlined key issues and opportunities, while the workshops offered hands-on experience, and the panel discussions focused on the different priorities and perspectives of key players in the learning analytics space. The Hamilton event, held on 13th October 2016 at the University of Waikato was attended by about 30 people from institutions in the wider Waikato region.
