With our name Te Huataki Waiora encompassing the philosophical values and intent of our school, the aim is to have our undergraduate qualifications that reflect these. The broad themes of health and wellbeing feed into all areas of life including community, teaching, sharing, acceptance and empowerment and manifest in the performance of the individual or community.
Whether your interest lies in the biomedical principles behind the pinnacle of high-performance sport, the future health of our changing population, the social practice that makes for a great coach, or the broader aspects of hauora and wellbeing in Aotearoa New Zealand, Te Huataki Waiora could be the perfect fit.
Our school prides itself on the true multi-disciplinary nature of our degrees with expertise being shared and cultivated between Te Huataki Waiora, colleagues cross the university, and our partners in the community. Our undergraduate programmes aim to deliver graduates with real world knowledge and skills that transfer into further study or direct to the workforce and achieves this with strong links to our community and partners.
With degrees that are comprised of both compulsory and elective papers, the intent is to give a you a sound theoretical base, while letting you explore areas of specific interest that align with your career aspirations. In your final year there is a compulsory fieldwork industry placement. This provides a stimulating environment for you to ‘look inside’ the health and sport sectors, and develop networks to enhance your employment opportunities.

Bachelor of Health
The Bachelor of Health (BHealth) offers students who are passionate about health and wellbeing a multidisciplinary programme of study that will help them to become innovative leaders who can contribute to change in systems and practices to support equitable outcomes for individuals and their communities.
Bachelor of Health, Sport and Human Performance
The rapidly growing sport and leisure industry is worth over $12 billion a year to New Zealand. Waikato's Bachelor of Health, Sport & Human Performance will give you a foundation in this exciting and dynamic career.
Bachelor of Nursing
The new Bachelor of Nursing combines high academic standards with hands-on learning in a real healthcare setting. The programme has a specific focus on equity, wellbeing and Māori and Pacific health with opportunities to specialise in mental health and addictions. On a practical level, you will divide your time between our University campus in Hamilton and health providers across the Waikato region and be guided by an experienced team of registered nurses and other health professionals.
