Te Piringa - Faculty of Law offers a number of scholarships for students studying towards Masters of Laws degree. For those students studying towards a post-graduate degree, the general University of Waikato PhD scholarship is available.
Master of Laws - LLM - Scholarships
Te Piringa - Faculty of Law Graduate Scholarship
For students who are eligible for admission and will be enrolling full- or part-time in a Master of Laws at Te Piringa - Faculty of Law, in the year of tenure who are not employees at the University of Waikato. The Scholarship will have a value of up to $5,000.

Kamira Henry (Binga) Haggie Scholarship
In 1999 a scholarship was established in recognition of the Faculty's kaumatua, Kamira Henry Haggie. Binga, (as he was most commonly known), was the Te Piringa - Faculty of Law's foundation kaumatua from 1991-96, when he retired from the position. He died in 1997. In his role as kaumatua, Binga provided a great deal of support to the Faculty assisting with numerous powhiri and other hui, and advising both staff and students on a host of matters.
For students of Maori descent who are eligible for admission and are intending to enrol part- or full-time in a Master of Laws a Te Piringa-Faculty of Law. The scholarship will have a value of up to $5,000.

University of Waikato Taught Postgraduate Fees Scholarship
For students who are enrolling in 500-level taught papers. Some 400-level taught papers are also eligible (see appendix A of the regulations for a full list). Applicants are expected to have a minimum GPA of A-. International students may apply however they must have completed at least 120 points of study at a New Zealand University. The scholarship will have a value of up to $3,000.

University of Waikato Masters Research Scholarship
For students who are intending to enrol full-time in a thesis of 90-points or more as part of their first Masters degree at the University of Waikato. The Scholarships will have a value of $12,000 for 90-point theses or $15,000 for 120-point theses (or more).

Norris Ward McKinnon Postgraduate Scholarship
For students who are enrolled or are intending to enrol part-or full-time in a master or doctoral degree in Te Piringa - Faculty of Law at the University of Waikato and are undertaking research in a legal or closely related discipline. The scholarship will have a value of up to $22,000 for a maximum tenure of one year.

Postgraduate Degree Scholarships
New Zealand Law Foundation Ethel Benjamin Scholarship for Women (Universities NZ)
This award was established to support postgraduate research in Law that encompasses the wider objectives of the NZ Law Foundation, in particular research that will protect and promote the interests of the public in relation to legal matters in New Zealand.
A Scholarship may be awarded to any woman scholar who is the holder of a New Zealand university law degree and is accepted into a postgraduate course in law at either a New Zealand or an overseas university acceptable to the Selection Committee.
The Scholarships range in value from $20,000 (for study in NZ) up to $50,000 (for study overseas).

New Zealand Law Foundation Doctoral Scholarship (in Law)
The scholarship will be awarded to a doctoral candidate who will carry out research in a defined area of the law which is for the benefit of New Zealand and its legal system.
Value: $10,000 each year for up to three years as a ‘top up’ to the award of an NZ University PhD Scholarship.
Applications are accepted twice a year. Applications close at 5pm on 28 February and 5pm on 31 August in each year.

University of Waikato Doctoral Scholarship
For students who have an Offer of Place to enrol, or are already enrolled, in a prescribed doctoral qualification (e.g. PhD, DMA, or Part 2 only of an EdD or SJD) at the University of Waikato. The Scholarship will have a value of up to $22,000 pa, plus domestic tuition fees, for up to three years.
