Senior Research Fellow

Qualifications: PhD

Research Interests

Health economics; Biostatistics; Cancer diagnosis, treatment and survival; Diabetes.

I have been working with the hospital clinicians looking at the cost effectiveness of differing health services. My project on “Costs of Breast Cancer in New Zealand” was funded by the HRC and Breast Cancer Register. The results of this project will inform healthcare planning such as decisions to introduce new treatment regimens and cost-effectiveness analyses of new treatments for breast cancer, and will also guide healthcare planners for better resource allocation to reduce inequities in breast cancer diagnosis, treatment, and health outcomes. Other projects include the costs for patients living with arthritis, the costs of orthopaedic hip and knee replacements and the cost effectiveness of day surgery for ENT treatments.

I hold a part-time fellowship from the Breast Cancer Foundation to examine the presentation, treatment and survival of patients with metastatic breast cancer. Other cancer projects I am involved in included the HRC Prostate Cancer Project, Breast Cancer Project, Lung Cancer Project and Colorectal Cancer Project.
