Te Amorangi National Māori Academic
Excellence Awards

A night of celebrations and glamour was held for the 10th Anniversary of Te Amorangi National Māori Academic Excellence Awards, at The Atrium, Wintec, Hamilton.

In ten years the awards evening has become a premier event for acknowledging and honouring Māori academic success.

The awards acknowledge individual achievement and showcase those that are helping to widen and deepen intellectual capacity all across the world. 

A special yearly award ‘Te Tohu Whakamaharatanga ki a Te Arikinui Te Atairangikaahu’  the Lifetime Recipient Award, chosen by Kiingi Tuheitia, is given to an individual who made exceptional contributions to their iwi.

This year the award was presented to Inia Te Wiata no Ngāti Mahuta me Ngāti Raukawa, for his contribution and expertise in the art of carving.

In total 42 recipients were celebrated in a night of joy and entertainment.
