Tukua ki te Ao: Progressing the normalisation of te reo Māori in organisations
This one-year research project, funded by Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori, seeks to build new knowledge around Māori language developments in wider NZ society.
This project will utilise a kaupapa Māori research approach to investigate the motivations of three types of organisations that use and promote te reo Māori: Local Government Councils, English-medium Schools; and Private Businesses.
In short, this research project wants to better understand:
- The motivation of organisations to use and promote te reo Māori
- The value proposition that te reo Māori has with organisations
- The ways in which organisations implement and integrate of te reo Māori in their business
- The approaches to learning and teaching of te reo Māori
Participating organisations
The quality of the new knowledge and innovation that will arise from this research rests largely on the ideas and success of the organisations involved in this research. The selected organisations featured in this research are:
- Rotorua Lakes Council, Waikato Regional Council and Christchurch City Council
- King’s College, Wellington Girls’ College and Christ College
- Spark Digital, Microsoft, Air New Zealand
