The Scholarships are available to students enrolled or enrolling in masters or doctoral programmes in the fields of agriculture, agriculture-related technologies, or the study of rural society. The values of the Scholarships are currently $13,000 for masters and $20,000 pa (for up to three years) for doctoral students. Candidates must be New Zealand citizens and graduates of a New Zealand University.
Sasakawa Fellowship Fund for Japanese Language Education & Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund

The Sasakawa Fellowship Fund for Japanese Language Education (SFFJLE) was established in March 1995 by an endowment from the Nippon Foundation to Massey University. The Sasakawa Fellowship Fund for Japanese language education was established in 1995. It is funded from the interest earned on an endowment bestowed on Massey University by the Nippon Foundation Fund for Japanese Language Education Programme (NF-JLEP), (then the Sasakawa Foundation). The purpose of the fund is to foster Japanese language in New Zealand through the training of Japanese language teachers and the provision of fellowships to students pursuing Japanese related studies.

The purpose of the Futures that Work scholarships and support programme is to grow the size and skills of the Pacific mental health and addiction workforce. Growing the size and skills of the Pasifika workforce takes more than just financial support. It is also a combination of providing appropriate mentoring, coaching, cultural and pastoral care, as well as support identifying employment and career pathways.
Pacific Health Scholarships

Te Whatu Ora Pacific Health Scholarships support the development of our Pacific health and disability workforce.
The Scholarships contribute to tuition fees for eligible students of indigenous Pacific Islands descent undertaking a course in medical and health or disability-related studies, accredited by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA). Applications for the Scholarships are open to full and part-time students.
The Scholarships offer:
- Up to $10,000 for medical and dentistry students
- Up to $5,000 for nursing, midwifery, allied health and all remaining eligibility qualifications.
He Whenua Taurikura Postgraduate Scholarships

He Whenua Taurikura National Centre of Research Excellence was established in 2022 in response to recommendation 14 of the Royal Commission of Inquiry report into the terrorist attack on Christchurch masjidain.
He Whenua Taurikura promotes and supports research that contributes to understanding, countering and preventing violent extremism as well as research that contributes to improving social cohesion and community safety. Applications are sought from a broad range of disciplinary and transdisciplinary/multidisciplinary backgrounds. Applications are open to students enrolled in or eligible to enrol in a relevant degree at a New Zealand university or tertiary institute. The Masters Research Scholarship has a value is $15,000 and the PhD Scholarship has a value of $40,000 stipend annually plus domestic tuition fees for up to three years.

The theme of our 2023 conference will be on monitoring: Coastal restoration: Measuring our progress. It will be held on the 15 – 17 March 2023 and hosted by the AUT Department of Environmental Science. Indoor sessions will be held at AUT, City campus.
Fieldtrips will be held around the Auckland Region.

The scholarship is open to any student studying for any degree or diploma with a research component in any tertiary institution in Aotearoa New Zealand. Priority will be given to research projects which most align with two key aims of the Waikato Botanical Society:
- To encourage the study of botany, particularly that of New Zealand and the Waikato Region
- To encourage the conservation of indigenous flora of New Zealand and the Waikato Region
Alexander & Gladys Shepherd Scholarship

Scholarship applications are open for students from the Taranaki region continuing studies in 2023 for the following purposes:
- Education or training to attain further knowledge and skills towards farming pursuits at an approved education facility, or
- Attainment of an agricultural degree or certificate at a tertiary institution or other suitable education facility or training farm.
This round is for students already undertaking relevant courses. Applicants up to the age of 21 may apply.
Arthritis New Zealand External Research Grants

Arthritis NZ is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to enable a better quality of life for people affected by arthritis. Arthritis NZ works in the areas of education, public awareness, direct support, advocacy, fundraising and research.
Purpose: The purpose of our External Research Grants is to engage and support researchers and professionals in Aotearoa New Zealand working in the wider arthritis research field who are based in academia, health service provision or other types of institutional organisations.
Interested applicants are invited to initially submit a three-page Expression of Interest (EOI) and a separate copy of their CV from Friday 2 December 2022 through to Tuesday 28 February 2023. Following our Research Committee’s review of EOI in late March 2023, those who are invited to progress to stage two will subsequently need to complete a full application form which will be due by 5pm on Wednesday 10 May 2023.
All of the official forms and information that you will need to complete your EOI submission are also available for download from the Arthritis NZ website (https://www.arthritis.org.nz/research-grants/). We have also made the full application template available as well so applicants who are invited to proceed to the second stage have an opportunity to plan their full application well in advance. The External Research Grants reporting template may also be downloaded as well so applicants can see what type of reporting is expected once their research project has been completed.

Study grants are to be administered by the Australian & New Zealand Mental Health Association Management Board.
AusIMM New Zealand Branch Education Endowment Trust Scholarships

The purpose of the Education Endowment Trust is to provide scholarships to students undertaking research in geology, engineering or the environment that is related to the minerals industry. Students must be enrolled in a New Zealand university for the duration of the award. Preference will be given to projects based in New Zealand and to Student Members of the AusIMM.
Te Pae Tawhiti Kaimoana Enhancement Scholarship

Te Pae Tawhiti Kaimoana Enhancement Scholarship is designed for Māori who have a desire to contribute to the enhancement of the Māori Kaimoana industry.
Applicants must prove they are of Maori descent and are enrolled in, and have been accepted into, a tertiary institution which offers kaimoana enhancement programmes or studies.
