BayTrust Dillon Scholarship

The Scholarships provides financial assistance to people who have significant disabilities and who will be undertaking tertiary education. Scholars may receive up to $5,000 per annum for 4 years full-time study.
To be eligible for the scholarship, student’s home base must be from the Bay of Plenty region.

The US South Pacific Scholarship Program is a competitive, merit-based scholarship program that provides opportunities for Master’s and Bachelor’s degree study at the University of Hawai‘i in fields that are directly relevant to the development needs of Pacific island countries. Candidates from the following countries, who meet specific selection criteria, are eligible for the program: Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu.

The Trust which funds the scholarship has been established by Mrs Yvonne A M Smith for the advancement of the education of women graduates who wish to embark upon Masters or Doctoral studies, with preference being given to the subject areas of political studies, economics, business or law. Preference will also be given to applicants who demonstrate potential for leadership and potential to make a significant contribution to New Zealand.
Barbara Wood Memorial Foundation Scholarships

The Barbara Wood Memorial Foundation offers financial assistance to provide training opportunities for students in New Zealand or the Pacific Islands. The scholarships are available to tertiary students, both female and male, who were born in the South Pacific region, which not only includes the island nations of the Pacific but also New Zealand and Australia. Students born in the South Pacific wishing to study in New Zealand or anywhere in the South Pacific are eligible to apply for the scholarship. The Scholarships have a value of up to $1,000 a year. Recipients who are successful in any one year, can reapply in a subsequent year.

Coastal Restoration Trust Post-graduate Study Award

The purpose of this study award is to provide funds to assist with an individual’s post-graduate level research to improve knowledge in the field of coastal restoration. The study award is usually $2,000 plus expenses to travel and present at the Coastal Restoration Trust Conference.

These scholarships are available to tertiary students who are descendants of Tauranga Moana iwi (Ngāti Ranginui, Ngāi Te Rangi and Ngāti Pūkenga).
Ngā Mātarae Scholarship
The Trustees of Ngā Mātarae Charitable Trust are pleased to offer the Ngā Mātarae Scholarship Programme. The Trust is a partnership between the Port of Tauranga and Tauranga Iwi with the primary purpose to promote the wellbeing of Te Awanui Tauranga Harbour. Applicants intending to undertake study in a discipline that will benefit the wellbeing of the harbour and who are descendants of Tauranga Moana iwi (Ngāti Ranginui, Ngāi Te Rangi and Ngāti Pūkenga) are invited to apply.
Turirangi Te Kani Memorial Scholarship
In recognition of the relationship with the Port of Tauranga and the respect Turirangi Te Kani held within the Tauranga community, a scholarship is offered within the area of the Tauranga Moana Trust Board, the Port of Tauranga is pleased to offer the Te Kani Memorial Scholarship Programme. Applicants will have affiliation with Tauranga Iwi and will have been resident (but allowing for schooling or University study outside the area) within the Tauranga Moana Trust Board area for the last five years.
Application Eligibility
An Applicant must be able to provide evidence of affiliation with Tauranga Iwi only (Ngāi Te Rangi, or Ngāti Ranganui, or Ngāti Pūkenga) and application eligibility requirements are outlined in the Application. An eligible application must include a completed Whakapapa Form showing the applicant’s primary line to show primary affiliations. The scholarship is $1,500 per year with recipients eligible for continued entitlement up to 3 years. This continued support is conditional on the recipient’s performance during the year and confirmation of plans to continue with the qualifying education in subsequent years. In the interests of fairness, any current recipient of one scholarship will be ineligible for the other scholarship.
