- currently enrolled full-time in an undergraduate degree programme at a registered tertiary education organisation
- involved in your local community, and where possible, your Pacific community (see guidelines)

The annual value of the scholarship is up to $3,000, which is awarded annually as funds permit.
Applicants must have graduated in science, agriculture or related disciplines (e.g. horticulture, veterinary science, food technology, biotechnology), and be enrolled in a postgraduate degree at a New Zealand university. Open to graduates in science, agriculture or related disciplines who are enrolled in postgraduate study in a field that is of benefit to New Zealand agriculture.

The Ministry for Primary Industry’s aim is to build capability in primary industry science, particularly where there are skills and science gaps. This scholarship is open to PhD and Masters candidates who are or will be engaged in primary industry relevant research at a New Zealand tertiary education institution. Each PhD scholarship is worth up to $50,000 and each Masters scholarship is worth up to $12,000. The successful recipients will also receive mentoring and career development support

This Scholarship supports research that advances understanding, and promotes protection of Antarctica and the Southern Ocean:
- For doctoral research

- Logistics support for one season of fieldwork in Antarctica*
New Zealand Post Antarctic Scholarship
New Zealand’s presence in Antarctica is important to our nation and New Zealand Post has a long association with the continent – ever since Sir Edmund Hillary was postmaster at Scott Base in 1957. Supporting up-and-coming New Zealand scientist through this scholarship is a key way that New Zealand Post continues its close association with the white continent.

The Newton International Fellowship scheme, run by The British Academy, and the Royal Society, aims to attract the world’s best postdoctoral researchers to the UK for two years.
The objectives of the Newton International Fellowship Scheme is to ensure the UK engages with the best post-doctoral researchers, across all disciplines of physical, natural and social sciences, and the humanities. The Fellowships are open to early-stage postdoctoral researchers who do not hold UK citizenship and are working outside the UK.
Aniva Future Pacific Nurse Leaders Programme

Welcome to the Aniva Future Pacific Nurse Leaders ("Aniva Future Leaders") programme which aims to increase the number of indigenous Pacific learners completing nursing programmes and successfully transitioning into the health workforce.
Students of the Aniva Future Leaders programme can receive support on their pathway to becoming a New Zealand registered nurse, which may include financial support, to help meet the nursing specific costs of study (uniform or clinical travel); academical support or pastoral support. Students will also be invited to attend networking events and receive updates on any new funding initiatives available each semester.

Frank Sydenham Scholarship

Frank Sydenham was one of the earliest people to achieve a masters in horticulture. He was a market gardener who left Tauranga his legacy of both a botanical park, and scholarship opportunities for students hailing from the Bay of Plenty undertaking postgraduate studies in the areas he was most passionate about. The Frank Sydenham Trust 1978 provide discretionary annual postgraduate horticulture, agriculture or forestry scholarships to former students from schools within the statutory boundary of the Bay of Plenty Regional Council. Scholarships will have a value of $10,000.

The Hutton Fund was established for the encouragement of research in New Zealand zoology, botany and geology. Funding will not exceed $1,000 per application. Please note that funding is not available for fees, thesis production or conference attendance.
Please note – there is no formal application form to complete when applying for a grant from the Hutton Fund. When applying to the Fund, please provide a covering letter; current CV, an outline of your proposed research, including methodology, references for literature cited and likely outcomes and a budget.

Every year the Tūwharetoa Settlement Trust makes three $10,000 scholarships available for registered members. The three scholarships are open to university students in their third year and above studying in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
