Our Vision
The vision of the Te Puna Haumaru New Zealand Institute for Security and Crime Science (NZISCS) is to understand the drivers of crime, to provide tools and information that will reduce victimisation and increase the safety and quality of life for all New Zealanders.
How we will achieve this
- We will establish close links with stakeholders such as New Zealand Police and District Health Boards, Iwi and Pacific Island Communities to guide priorities.
- We will establish a world class centre for research to respond to those priorities that draws on the skills and expertise of multiple disciplines from statistics to psychology, economics to education, and computer science to indigenous culture.
- We will develop educational courses for undergraduates, postgraduates and professionals responsible for crime reduction, community safety and security.
- We will publish rigorous research to inform public policy and practice in the areas of crime reduction, national security and policing.
