The vision of the New Zealand Institute for Security and Crime Science (NZISCS) is to understand the drivers of crime, to provide tools and information that will reduce victimisation and increase the safety and quality of life for all New Zealanders.
How we will achieve this
- We will establish close links with stakeholders such as New Zealand Police and District Health Boards, Iwi and Pacific Island Communities to guide priorities.
- We will establish a world class centre for research to respond to those priorities that draws on the skills and expertise of multiple disciplines from statistics to psychology, economics to education, and computer science to indigenous culture.
- We will launch a Master of Security and Crime Science degree that will support the professional development of persons responsible for community safety and well-being.
- We will publish rigorous information and evidence to increase the effectiveness of community intervention.
