Silverdale Road Apartments
Silverdale Road Apartments offer an independent lifestyle for students who want to live close to campus. There are 53 self-contained fully furnished and tastefully decorated apartments. Situated next to Orchard Park accommodation, Silverdale Apartments are a two minute walk to the university campus.
Each apartment has its own kitchen, bathroom and a queen bed with a living/study space. Residents will have access to a shared laundry and a common room.
This facility is designated for mature and postgraduate students only - and is not available for school-leaver students.
Apartment facilities
- Single person occupancy
- Self-catered – residents cook their own meals in a fully equipped kitchen with full sized oven, cooktop, microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge. Residents bring their own cookware or purchase a kitchen pack from the Accommodation Office for $145.
- Furnishing – each apartment comes with a queen bed, two seater couch, wardrobe, desk and office chair, notice board and bookshelf. Residents bring their own linen and towels, or purchase a linen pack from the Accommodation Office for $135.
- Laundry - $2 coin-operated machines, vacuum cleaners, iron and ironing board available.
- Internet - free Wi-Fi available in all apartments.
- Power – free power in all apartments, including heating and cooling.
- Parking – residents paid parking and secure bike shed available at the apartments. Parking is $60 per semester.
Common room – shared space with kitchenette, TV and couches available. - Access to Orchard Park’s facilities – residents have access to Orchard Park recreation room, which has Sky TV, pool table, table tennis and BBQ area.
Apartment contracts – residents can apply to extend their contracts into summer trimester.

Orchard Park is designed for students who want to live in a flatting situation, have a good balance between meeting new people and having independence, and enjoy the security and support of being on campus.
All rooms at Orchard Park are self-catered, with space for 150 residents. The hall is popular with second, third and fourth-year students, international students, and those studying at postgraduate level. This creates a supportive community of students who are keen to get stuck into their studies and build lasting memories with new friends along the way.
Orchard Park is a short 2 minute walk to Waikato Management School and Te Kura Toi Tangata Faculty of Education, set in a private and relaxed living environment surrounded by fruit trees.
Orchard Park facilities
- Cottages – each cottage has shared living, dining, kitchen and bathroom with 4 or 6 other flatmates.
- Studios – each studio has a shared kitchen with 5 other flatmates, each bedroom in a studio has its own bathroom.
- Self-catered – residents cook their own meals in a fully equipped kitchen with full sized oven, cooktop, microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge. Pots, pans and cooking utensils are provided, residents bring their own chopping boards, sharp knives, plates, mugs, glasses and cutlery or can purchase a small individual kitchen pack from the Accommodation Office for $35.
- Furnishing – each bedroom comes with a king single bed, wardrobe, desk and office chair, notice board and bookshelf. Residents bring their own linen and towels, or purchase a linen pack from the Accommodation Office for $105.
- Laundry - $2 coin-operated machines, iron and ironing board available.
- Internet - free Wi-Fi available in all flats.
- Power – free power in all flats, including heating.

If you are successful and offered a place in the Halls of Residence, you will need to accept your offer and pay your deposit/admin fee online by the due date indicated in your offer letter. If you don't, the offer expires and your place will be offered to another student.
