The key series are The School Journal, Junior Journal, School Journal Story Library and Connected (which is located in the Dewey non-fiction collection). Teacher's Guides, where available, are shelved next to the relevant box.

The content of these series can be searched from the online database Journal Surf.

The Readers Collection contains books which have been written for the general purpose of teaching children to read. Most of the books in this collection are designed for use by children with a reading age between 5 and 10 years, with interest levels between 5 and 15 years. There are examples of British, American, Australian and Pacific Island readers, as well as examples from all series published in New Zealand.
