He karanga maioha tēnei ki ngā tauira Māori o Te Whare Wānanga o Waikato e whai nei i ngā tohu hōnore, ngā tohu paerua rānei.
Nau mai, piki mai ki ngā momo huinga tautoko e whakaatu nei i raro i te maru o Te Toi o Matariki!
Te Toi o Matariki, or the Māori Graduate Excellence Programme, supports and encourages Māori excellence at graduate and postgraduate level of studies.
The programme supports Māori students by:
- encouraging entry into graduate and post-graduate studies
- providing initiatives that strengthen research capability
- providing positive networking opportunities and forums for discussion and dialogue
The five initiatives that support the programme are:

Te Toi o Matariki workshop series
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor Māori office coordinates a range of workshops aimed at supporting graduate study and research. Such workshops can focus on writing, scholarships or thesis structure.
These workshops also provide a space where students can wānanga, kōrero or tuhituhi. Dates and times are emailed to all current graduate students.

Te Toi o Matariki Masters presentations
Māori Masters students can share and present their research at two significant events: Tukana Kia Rere and Te Toi o Matariki Symposium.
Tukana Kia Rere is a new initiative that challenges students to present their research in just three minutes in front of a live audience.
Te Toi o Matariki Symposium is an original initiative that offers students a safe environment to present their research in conference style and/or in poster form.

Te Toi o Matariki writing retreats
The Te Toi o Matariki writing retreats provide optimum conditions for Māori graduate and postgraduate students to complete a substantial piece of scholarly writing.

Faculty-based support initiatives
Each Faculty or School provides support for Māori graduate and postgraduate students. For more information, please contact your relevant Māori mentoring unit.

Te Pūtea Tautoko
The purpose of Te Pūtea Tautoko is to enhance academic success for Māori students who have proven academic potential but are experiencing financial constraints or other special circumstances. The value of the award is up to $3,000.
