This paper examines how communication underpins organisational practice and drives successful organisational change. It helps students develop the knowledge and analytical skills needed for an effective internal communications practitioner.
Applying organisational communication theories to real workplace contexts, students analyse how power and control operate within organisations, how teams communicate and make decisions, and how identity, emotion and rationality shape everyday organisational communication. Drawing on real organisational examples, students use critical communication frameworks to identify what goes wrong in organisational communication and why. These skills translate directly into professional practice, equipping graduates to identify and respond effectively to the internal communication challenges organisations face.
