This paper, together with TEPS703, expands frames of reference to look at broader social, cultural, political and economic forces that profoundly influence education, together with an exploration of both teacher and learner identities and aspirations. These ideas form three strands in each of the two papers - the teacher and teaching, the learner and learning, and 'threads and needles' (an exploration of diverse educational contexts). This paper the focus is on the diversity of learners and learning contexts.
