This paper is the first in a series that is designed to support students' growth as practitioners in the area of professional and ethical inquiry. It aims to include an appreciation of the significance of the Treaty of Waitangi to students' roles as early childhood educators. Discussions of the Treaty will encourage reflection on social justice and equity in education.
