Hamilton
Following in his grandfather's footsteps, Connor Haar (Waikato-Tainui, Ngāti Maniapoto, Ngāti Mahuta) chose to study a Bachelor of Business majoring in Accounting at the University of Waikato.
He pursued his interest in international cultures by taking a minor in Japanese.
“What I loved about Waikato was the flexibility with courses,” says Connor. “I've always had an interest in other cultures and being able to learn something I was passionate about while also completing my main degree was really fulfilling."
“I always knew that when I finished my business degree, it would be a strong one to go out into the workplace.”
After graduating, Connor began working at PwC in Hamilton. He then completed his professional exams and is now a fully qualified Chartered Accountant.
Eventually, he hopes to work in the Māori business sector and make a greater impact with the knowledge and experience he has gained.
