You'll learn how to make eye-catching graphic/media design experiences which drive products and bring satisfaction to viewers when you study Design Media at Waikato. Design Media is all about learning-by-doing and integrating media in new ways.

Please note: There will be no new enrolments in the Design Media major, Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma or supporting subject from 2017. Students who commenced a major in Design Media in 2016 or prior should consult the School of Arts for advice ([email protected]).

In your Design Media studies, you'll grow your creative, critical and analytical skills using a variety of media types. Design is the key driving force in the creative economy which means you'll have no shortage of career opportunities.

The Design Media major comes under the Bachelor of Media and Creative Technologies, so you'll gain all the skills you need to become a qualified professional in the field. The interconnected nature of the programme allows you to freely grow your web design, 3D modelling, television production skills and other interests, in a variety of ways.

By graduation, you'll have skills in computer science, graphic design, creative technologies, screen and media studies, and even in music. You'll have the confidence to work with graphic designers and large media-centric teams to create innovative design experiences.
