Assessment Research Across the Years (ARAY)
Understanding student learning through assessment.
Members of the Assessment Research Across the Years (ARAY) Unit undertake research into the nature and implications of assessment for students, teachers, families and whanau in early childhood settings, primary and secondary schools and tertiary / university contexts. Our research is underpinned by a commitment to equity, improvement and social justice. Our intention is to contribute to theory, policy and practice.

Our research interests range from the impact of moment-to-moment interactions and feedback to the meaning and consequences of large-scale international assessment regimes such as TIMSS and PISA.
We collaborate with teachers, leaders, policy makers and researchers and employ a diversity of research approaches and theoretical frames.
The Unit welcomes inquiries about potential research projects, collaborations and seminars. Members are available to supervise and advise on research projects.
