This course aims to develop and refine the performance skills gained during undergraduate and Honours study, deepen interpretative insights and extend the ability to perform music from a variety of historical periods at an accomplished level. Students will be expected to develop a consummate knowledge of their recital repertoire both from a musical and musicological angle. The result of the study towards the background of the works being prepared should be extensive knowledge of the composers, their contemporaries and the place of these works in the context of the history of music. At this stage of study, students should have an understanding and awareness of their role and responsibility as a performing artist, and an intention to contribute valuably to the art form in present day society.
