About this opportunity

The PhD project will be undertaken in collaboration with the New Zealand Institute for Public Health and Forensic Science and will contribute to the development of evidence-based standards for the use of hyperspectral imaging in evidence analysis to support the justice system. Through systematic experimental design, validation, and comparison with established methods, the PhD student will generate guidance on the strengths, limitations, and appropriate use of hyperspectral imaging for body fluid detection. The outcomes are expected to support more consistent interpretation of imaging results, improve understanding of the technology’s forensic value, and help inform future implementation in laboratory and casework settings.
